What's involved
- An accredited assessor carries out an initial site visit to survey the building
- We collect and analyse your metered energy consumption for the past 12 months
- Certificate and Advisory Report produced from the survey and your data
- Both lodged on the government register, with a repeat survey every 7 years (10 for smaller buildings)
Site visit required
7 or 10 years
An accredited assessor surveys the building on your first assessment. The Advisory Report it produces lasts 7 years in buildings over 1,000m², or 10 years between 250 and 1,000m², and we revisit when it expires. Visits work around your operations.
Certificate and Advisory Report produced and lodged on the government register within 3–5 working days of the visit and receiving your energy data.

Frequently asked questions
How often does a DEC need renewing?
Annually for buildings over 1,000m². Every 10 years for buildings between 250–1,000m².
Do we need a site visit?
Yes. An accredited assessor carries out an initial site visit to survey the building and produce your Advisory Report. That report is valid for 7 years in buildings over 1,000m², or 10 years in buildings between 250 and 1,000m², and we revisit when it expires. In between, your certificate is produced from your metered energy consumption data.
Can you manage DECs across multiple sites?
Yes, we offer managed annual programmes for public sector portfolios of any size.
